Rosa 'Blue for You' (registered cultivar name: PEJamblu) is a sensational, award-winning Floribunda Rose bred by Peter J. James in the UK (2001) and introduced by Warner's Roses in 2007. It is widely celebrated by enthusiasts as one of the absolute closest approximations to an elusive "blue rose" commercially available today.
Key Characteristics
Classification: Floribunda (Cluster-flowered bush rose).
The Blooms: Long buds open into large, ruffled, semi-double flowers. They undergo a striking color transformation, emerging as a rich, intense purple-mauve before fading into an extraordinary slate blue and soft lavender-grey with a clean white center and prominent golden stamens.
The Temperature Effect: The unusual slate-blue shift is driven by a chemical reaction in the pigments triggered by heat. The color appears gracefully weathered and blue-toned during warm summer days, and takes on deeper mauve tones in cooler weather.
Fragrance: Highly fragrant (a rarity for many Floribundas), releasing a sweet, intense perfume with strong notes of fruity citrus and violets.
Flowering Habit: Exceptionally free-flowering, producing heavy, continuous clusters of 3 to 12 roses per stem from June until the autumn frosts.
Growth & Size: A neat, very bushy, and upright rounded shrub reaching a manageable height of 75–90 cm (2.5–3 feet) and a spread of about 65 cm. It is notably sparsely thorned, making it very pleasant to prune.
Foliage: Dressed in glossy, rich dark-green leaves that offer superior, year-round resistance against blackspot and mildew. It also develops attractive ornamental red hips in late autumn if left unpruned
